About us

John Merritt – Director

Having originally trained in Canada, John has spent the past 30+ years working in Australia on residential, commercial and industrial construction projects.

He has extensive experience taking projects of all sizes through conception, design, planning, tendering, building, and final commissioning. He has extensive experience working with the Australian Standards, Building Code of Australia, State and Local statutory regulations, including EH&S requirements.

John also has many years of experience both in Client side and Build side Project Management and has a passion for adapting new technologies, materials and methods to traditional construction problems..

His core strength is finding solutions.

Noah Merritt – Apprentice

After completing a Certificate III in Outdoor Education, Noah decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and train to be a carpenter. Noah’s attention to detail and thirst for learning makes him a great addition to the MCS team.

Elijah Merritt – Labourer/Tech Support
While completing his studies at TAFE, Elijah frequently works with us to give us a much needed hand on difficult projects. His size, strength and willingness make him a great addition to the MCS family team.

“We had a fantastic experience with MCS. From the design phase to completion, John talked us through every step. The open communication and workmanship led us to recommend him to all our family and friends. We are very happy with our little retreat! ”

MCS have completed four residential construction jobs for me at four different properties.

The projects have ranged from a rear extension containing a kitchen and rumpus room, a large al fresco dining area, a pool cabana and a large work shed.

I am currently planning, with John’s help, the refurbishment of a large farm shed into additional living space, plus a separate two-bedroom accommodation block at a rural property in Central NSW.

What you get when John does your job is a commitment to high quality building work, using traditional or newly developed, materials and building methods.

He has been able to take our ideas and develop them into better buildings than we originally envisaged.  His ability to problem-solve and adapt during construction is calibrated to achieve outcomes of superior quality completed on-time and within budget.

All of the work he has done for me has resulted in buildings which are solid, well-built, fit for purpose and visually appealing.

Coles Express – Coolroom Refurbishments

The Coles Express team had been searching for a cost effective solution in order to replace and expand the display coolrooms at several of our Retail sites.

John Merritt was able to assess the building structure, existing infrastructure and our customer requirements and provide the solution we had been looking for. We are now undertaking a multi-site programme of refurbishments based on this new design and methodology.
